Community event honors anniversary

Tabernacle Baptist Church is celebrating its 128th anniversary with the theme “A Church Going Beyond Beyond,” through Aug. 18.

A community event with food, inflatables, water slide, bake-off and games is 11 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Family Life Center at the church, 1223 Laney-Walker Blvd.

The Rev. John R. Faison from Watson Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Nashville, Tenn., will speak at three services Sunday: 7:30, 9:30 and 11:30 a.m.

Heart to Home now taking registrations

Heart to Home Learning Inc. is now taking registrations for the 2013-14 school year.

The program for fifth- through 12th-graders includes Bible devotions, tutoring and electives three days a week. Tuition starts at $150 a month, with discounts available.

Church changes worship time

Abilene Baptist Church in Martinez is moving to two morning worship services starting Sept. 8.

Services will be held at 8:30 and 11 a.m., with a 9:45 a.m. Bible fellowship hour in between.
