Timothy Luke Reeve, the son of Tim and Wendy Reeve of Martinez, was honored with the 2013 Harry Denman Evangelism Award by the United Methodist Church.

Reeve and his family are members of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church.

As a high school senior, Reeve was elected chaplain of the touring choir ministry at Trinity. He now attends Georgia Tech and will work this summer for S.O.S., a camp, academy and urban development nonprofit in Memphis, Tenn.

The Harry Denman Evangelism Awards are sponsored by The Foundation for Evangelism and began in 1981 to honor United Methodist clergy and lay people who exhibit outstanding leadership skills and efforts in Christian evangelism.

Oklahoma fundraiser

Worship Alive, a monthly worship gathering in Augusta, will hold a fundraiser for Oklahoma tornado victims.

The group has worked with Life Church in Oklahoma City to send donations to the families and victims in tornado-devastated towns. The event begins at 7 p.m. June 21 at Living Waters Church, 1319 Community Park Road.

Cans and Fans

WAFJ-FM (88.3) is broadcasting live Wednesdays in June from area Kroger stores to collect canned food and electric fans for The Salvation Army in a “Cans and Fans” drive to help local families in need.

Look for them or tune in from noon to 1:30 p.m. on these dates:

• June 19 at 4355 Washington Road, Evans

• June 26 at 1795 Whiskey Road, Aiken

Donations will also be accepted at any Salvation Army location, including the Kroc Center, Center of Hope, First Stop Center, and stores in Thomson, Augusta and North Augusta, or at WAFJ in North Augusta.

Prayer breakfast

The Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast for the month of June begins at 8 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Cultural Center, 1301 Greene St.

This month’s event includes a welcome by Mayor Deke Copenhaver and New York City artist David Michalek.

Michalek’s work will be on display at Sacred Heart in A Journey of Community, a special event presented by The Greater Augusta Arts Council. The central piece is a photography work by Michalek titled 14 Stations.

Breakfast begins at 9 a.m.

Enopion auditions

Auditions will be held for Enopion Theatre Co.’s production of The Match Girl, a musical adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen story, beginning June 27.

The auditions will be held by appointment only on Thursdays through July 18.
