WHAT: The second annual Augusta Rescue Mission Run for Shelter 5K Race benefits Augusta’s homeless.

The second annual Augusta Rescue Mission Run for Shelter 5K Race is set for Saturday, May 11.

WHEN: 8 a.m. Saturday, May 11; registration opens at 7 a.m.

WHERE: The Augusta Common on Broad Street; cheer on runners from Broad Street or outside the Augusta Rescue Mission on Walker Street

THE EVENT: Last year, hundreds of runners raised $20,000 for two downtown ministries: the Rescue Mission, which offers a recovery-based resident worker program and overnight shelter for homeless men, and the Augusta Bridge Ministry, which has, since 2007, held church services for the homeless under the Calhoun Expressway Bridge at 15th Street.
