Williams Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church of Augusta will hold its annual Paine College Day at 11 a.m. Sunday.
Brandon P. Brown, the vice president of institutional advancement at the college, will speak.
“Williams Memorial will observe Paine College Day, as we celebrate our rich heritage and the gateway to the world,” the Rev. Paul W. Gardner, senior pastor of Williams Memorial, said in a statement.
Bishop Lucius Holsey, who died in 1920, was an early presiding bishop of the church and helped establish Paine College in Augusta. He served as senior bishop for eighteen years.
The free event, which is open to the public, will be held at the church, at 1630 15th St.
The Church of the Holy Comforter will have a Celtic service of Eucharist at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at 473 Furys Ferry Road, Martinez.
The Irish band Avalon will play pre-service music at 10:15 a.m., and again during the worship service as the church celebrates Celtic Christianity as a part of the Anglican heritage on the Feast of St. Patrick. Call the church office at (706) 210-1133 for more information.
