Trey McLaughlin & The Sounds of Zamar received nominations for best gospel album and best gospel group in the 2013 South Florida Gospel Music Awards, which recognizes independent gospel artists.
The Augusta-based group released its first single, I Will Praise, earlier this year. The single is featured on its debut album Limitless, which was released in November.

A giant menorah will be kindled on the Augusta Common at a Hanukkah celebration at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The Chabad of Augusta holds the free event, which includes a parade of car menorahs and a toy drive to benefit children at Medical College of Georgia Hospital and Clinics.
The parade starts in Martinez and makes its way downtown. On the common, a 7-foot menorah will be lit, followed by Hanukkah songs and greetings, a children’s performance, gifts for children, a Hanukkah pyrotechnic show and hot potato latkes.

The choir of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church presents a Christmas concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 at the church, 4921 Columbia Road, Grovetown.
The event will include works by Handel, Johnson, Praetorius and more. A dessert reception follows.

Bethlehem Village, an interactive re-creation of what Bethlehem might have been like at the time of Jesus’ birth, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 15 and 16 at Martinez United Methodist Church, 3614 Washington Road.
Participants will walk among the shops and collect items from booths, including a candle shop, fruit vendor and potter.
