Julie Hadden, a contestant on Season 4 of NBC’s reality show The Biggest Loser will share her story as an adoptive mother at a Ladies’ Night Out event of Covenant Care Services in Augusta.
The fundraiser for the local Christian adoption ministry starts at 7 p.m. Thursday at Abilene Baptist Church in Martinez. Tickets are $10 and must be purchased in advance at Lifeway Christian Stores in Augusta, WAFJ-FM (88.3) Studios in North Augusta, Abilene Baptist Church or online at AdoptAugusta.com.
The Corner Pumpkin Patch at Marvin United Methodist Church in Martinez opens Sunday.
The patch, which funds United Methodist Men missions and church projects, will be open noon to 7 p.m. on weekdays, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays through Oct. 31.

Byrd Family anniversary
The Byrd Family gospel singers celebrate their 54th anniversary with a service at 10 a.m. Oct. 14.
The group was started in 1958 by Darvin “Papa Byrd,” a member of the Country Gospel Music Hall of Fame.
The service includes gospel music, preaching and barbecue and is free to the public. Roy Rogers, state superintendent of the Georgia Church of The Nazarene, will speak.
