Students at schools across the country will gather around flagpoles early Wednesday morning for prayer at the 22nd annual See You At The Pole.

The informal, student-initiated gatherings begin at 7 a.m. at many area high schools and some elementary and middle schools. Start times, however, may vary from school to school.

Youths from several area schools will lead prayer at a rally at Warren Baptist Church. The Brett Younker Band from Atlanta’s Passion City Church will lead worship. The rally begins at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Warren Baptist Church, 3203 Washington Road.

The 2012 theme is “Awaken,” and features verses from Ephesians 3:14–21.

The day of prayer began with 10 students who gathered outside a Texas school in 1990. This year, more than 3 million students in 20 countries are expected to take part.
