A church is raffling off a south Augusta house in hopes of raising $200,000 for missions in Kenya.

New Life Christian Center plans to sell 2,000 tickets at $100 each. A drawing date will be set after all the tickets are sold, according to a church staffer.

The mission, Project Kenya, has built several churches in Kenya and recently purchased a new well-drilling truck. Six locations for new wells have been identified, according to the church.

The newly renovated house was donated to the church and is on a 0.44-acre lot on Saratoga Court, near Rosier Road. It has three bedrooms and 2½ bathrooms. The winner will be responsible for filing taxes on the earnings.

If you don't approve,

then don't participate. It's still a free country and not everyone has to agree on everything for us get along peacefully and with civility. A little forbearing one another in love would go a very long way right about now.

I understand feelings about doing first in our own family, community and country. But, I have come to a point in my life, where I can say, However God leads, may His name and His purpose be Glorified!

If a church can do this
Unpublished

If a church can do this legally, why can't they open a casino? Questions are :
1. Who is overseeing the drawing?
2. Who is insuring every player has an equal chance?
3. What is the tax on 200K?
4. As it is apparently not a tax free church asset, can every citizen have the same type of raffle for their assets?
5. Have the church members ever heard od a place called Appalacia and why don't they go there to spread the good will?

A Church doing a raffle tickets?
Unpublished

This kind of thing has happened for years. Is it Biblical? Well it isn't unbiblical. Though this raffle isn't something I would participate in, this article does bring out the pharisees in the Kingdom of God.
