Churches kick off Summer Vacation Bible Schools

It’s the beginning of the Vaca­tion Bible School season, in which churches hold themed weeklong outreach and education programs for children in their congregation and community.

Nationwide, Southern Baptist churches alone have more than 2.8 million youths in summer VBS programs, according to a 2009 count by LifeWay, the most recent year for which data is available.
