The Rev. John Bryan will serve as the new interim pastor of First Baptist Church of North Augusta.

Bryan, who is currently a mission specialist with the Georgia Baptist Convention, starts at the church on June 3.

The pastor previously served at Curtis Baptist Church in Augusta for 17 years, from 1983 to 1998. He has a radio ministry that is broadcast across Georgia and online.

The role of interim pastor has recently been filled by a few notable pastors, including the Rev. Thomas Hammond, vice president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Executive Committee convention advancement office, and the Rev. Frank Page, president and chief executive officer of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Executive Committee.

First Baptist Church of North Augusta is located at 625 Georgia Ave., North Augusta. The church meets at 8:30 and 11 a.m. Sundays. Learn more at

To the people of First

To the people of First Baptist, North will love John Bryan! I am a member of a church where Rev. Bryan was also an interim pastor and many wished he would've considered staying on. I like our pastor now, but.....let's just say that Rev. Bryan has the gift of preaching to everyone's heart because he doesn't preach just to hear himself preach. He speaks in a way the everyone can understand what he's trying to get across. I love his style. Enjoy him while you can.

Thirty Years!

Thirty Years ago, my wife and I got married. John Bryan performed the ceremony. And I agree with JMO; John is a wonderful man who "speaks to your heart". Good luck, Preacher!
