Diabetes education

The health care ministry of Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church, 1930 Olive Road, will present a diabetes seminar at 7 p.m. Friday. Presenters include Robin Petry, a certified diabetes educator, and Dr. Mickey Stapp, a podiatrist.

Divine Mercy

Ten days of meditation and prayer will conclude with a Divine Mercy Service at 3 p.m. April 15 at Saint Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, 4921 Columbia Road, Grovetown.

The Divine Mercy Devotion is a message of God’s mercy and love sent through the revelations of a young Polish nun, Saint M. Faustina Kowalska, starting in 1931. She began a diary of her revelations, with amassed 600 pages at the time of her death in 1938.

Holocaust memorial

Norbert Friedman, a Holocaust survivor who was imprisoned in 11 concentration camps during World War II, will speak at the Holocaust Memorial Observance in Augusta.

The event begins at 6:45 p.m. April 18 at the Augusta Jewish Community Center, 898 Weinberger Way, Evans.

Participants are asked to wear white shirts or blouses.

Friedman, who tells his story in the 2006 autobiography, Sun Rays at Midnight, was liberated by the U.S. Army in May 1945.
