On Sunday, the Morehouse Glee Club will perform in a special service at the historic Springfield Baptist Church, where Morehouse College was founded 145 years ago.

The service, at 11 a.m. Sunday, celebrates Morehouse College Founder’s Day. The school, now located in Atlanta, was founded in the basement of the Augusta church by the Rev. William Jefferson White in 1867.

Notable graduates of Morehouse College include the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., the Rev. Otis Moss III, the former pastor of Tabernacle Baptist Church of Augusta, and Edward McIntyre, former mayor of Augusta.
