The Longest Night, a service for those experiencing loss or grief, will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of St. John United Methodist Church, 104 Newberry St. NW, Aiken.
The annual service is held on the evening of the winter solstice, the day when daylight hours are the shortest.
Participants are invited to hear a comforting message, light candles in memory of a loss and listen to gentle music, according to organizers. Childcare will be provided.

Awakening Faith course
St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, 4921 Columbia Road, Grovetown, is offering a seven-week program of faith renewal titled Awakening Faith.
The conversation-based program gives inactive or marginally active Catholics a forum in which they can they reconnect with their faith.

Young Macedonia Baptist Church, 120 Briggs Road, North Augusta, will hold its annual Christmas concert to collect food, money, clothing and toys for families in need. The concert begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
