Ga. pastor arrested protesting 'Demon'

  • Follow Your Faith

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Police have arrested a pastor in Georgia for protesting outside a high school against its demon mascot.

Police spokeswoman Tabitha Pugh said 36-year-old Donald Crosby was arrested today in the central Georgia city of Warner Robins.

Crosby and supporters picked the opening day of classes to protest against the pitchfork-wielding mascot. Crosby, of Kingdom Builders Church of Jesus Christ, says his son attends the school and he doesn't want him exposed to the name's devilish connotations.

Crosby was charged with picketing without a license and disorderly conduct. He was released on bond. He did not immediately return a telephone call seeking comment.

School officials say the mascot honors a World War II fighter squadron nicknamed the "Screamin' Demons."

this guy needs to find a better way to express himself. Getting things changed still means that you work within the confines of the law. With everything else going on in the world he might want to prioritise his battles a little more carefully

"His son attends the school and he doesn't want him exposed to the name's devilish connotations."

It seems pretty likely his son will be exposed to a lot of ridicule after this stunt.

The trouble is, "Demons" fits

The trouble is, "Demons" fits the students at Murphy Middle more accurately than does "Broncos" — that is, unless you're thinking about the rear of the bronco.

Barry - you are so right on

Barry - you are so right on that. It's a good thing Rev. Crosby isn't a pastor in Lincolnton and tried to change the Red Devil mascot. Wheww, they'd make deviled egg out of him. Lincoln County folks are the only ones who will not go to hell for loving a red devil.

People have tried to change

People have tried to change Lincoln County's mascot before but were not successful. Do people seriously think we are teaching children to worship the devil?

I always had a problem with

I always had a problem with the Lincolnton team being the Red Devils especially having to see that red devil painted on their water tower. And low and behold if you have to preach to those people after they lost a Friday night football game you would think the end of the world was already here. I also don't like the North Carolina team named the Demon Deacons. But that is just personal preferences as I said we have a lot more serious things to worry about don't we Baron? Like GLUTTONY, GLUTTONY, GLUTTONY! LOL

This guy has ensured his poor

This guy has ensured his poor kid will be the laughingstock of the school. Has he petitioned the school board? Tried to get residents to sign a petition to change the name? I work with high school kids and believe me the students at the school were hooting this up. Thanks to him they'll probably start wearing little devil horns and tails, etc. to school. I fee sorry for his poor son. He should send to to a christian school.
