'Thor'

Release Date: May 6

Rated: PG-13

My Thoughts: 'Thor,' the epic tale of an arrogant hero, is sure to please an action-loving audience. Bits of comedy lighten the mood as Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth, is disowned and betrayed by his family. Stripped of his powers as the God of Thunder, Thor is banished to planet Earth where he encounters Jane Foster, portrayed by Natalie Portman, and falls deeply in love with her.

Unfortunately, this small romantic plot line feels rushed and unrealistic. The chemistry between the two actors is lacking. However, one is quickly distracted by the stunning special effects, which are surely enhanced in the 3-D and IMAX versions.

Chris Hemsworth is quite impressive with his vulnerable display of emotions as Thor overcomes his tragic flaw. This film, though imperfect and not entirely memorable, is enjoyable.

Grade: B -
