Samaritan’s Purse: Operation Christmas Child

Contact Information: For more information on packing shoeboxes, check out samaritanspurse.org. For more information on drop-off locations, call two participating churches  -- Warren Baptist Church at (706) 860-1586 and Hillcrest Baptist Church at (706) 793-3104.

Type of activity: Operation Christmas Child gives volunteers an opportunity to pack a shoebox full of small gifts that will be given to a child who would not get Christmas presents otherwise.

First, choose what gender and age group to pack your box for and download an approved label with information on it from samaritanspurse.org. Get an old shoebox, wrap it with Christmas wrapping paper, and fill it with small toys, hygiene items like soap and washcloths, school supplies like crayons, and even a few items of clothing. Again, check the Samaritan’s Purse website for an approved list of items to pack your shoebox with. Also, make sure you enclose at least $7 to pay for shipping. To finish, put a rubber band around the finished shoe box to keep it sealed, and take the box to a designated drop-off location.

Drop-Off Deadline: There are many different drop-off locations in Augusta. A few include Hillcrest Baptist Church, whose deadline for shoeboxes is November 10th, and Warren Baptist Church, whose drop-off week runs from November 15th through November 22nd. Search for more at samaritanspurse.org.
