 Premiere: Sept. 8

Time: 9 p.m. Wednesdays, the CW.

My Thoughts: Armed with sarcastic wit, killer moves, a supportive though skeptical best friend, and a villain viewers will love to hate, Marti (Aly Michalka) joins the world of competitive cheerleading to secure a scholarship at Lancer University. The plot set up, I was predictably reminded of the ‘90s cheer film Bring it On by all of the upbeat dance routines and catfights as Marti tries to maneuver through the complex dynamics of the squad.

With an array of distinct characters including Savannah, the team captain (played by the always loveable, now brunette Ashley Tisdale), the show is sure to have you rooting for your favorite should-be couples and rivals. For those of you looking for a light hearted CW show with a little more sass than seduction (I‘m talking to you, Gossip Girl) and who enjoy a spot of banter with your serving of pom-poms and pleats, I’d suggest you add Hellcats to your Wednesday night routine.
