The following students have been named to the dean’s list at Armstrong Atlantic State University for the fall 2013 semester: Derrick Brown, Matthias Downs, Megan Gordon, Markus Mitchell, Benjamin Oliver, Bryce Pearson, Patricia Pirkle, Stuart Sims and Kimberly Walton.

Karyn Nixon and Don Grantham have been elected to the CSRA Alliance for Fort Gordon board of directors.

Nixon is the government relations and community affairs specialist at Georgia Regents University. Grantham is the president and CEO of Forest Sales Corp, and vice chairman of the Georgia Department of Transportation State Transportation Board.

The following students have earned associates degrees from Southern Wesleyan University: Detrius Boyd, Sonia Leverett.

The following students have earned bachelors degrees from Southern Wesleyan University: Sarita Green, Deborah Spence, Theresa Trowell, Chris Tubbs, Jonathan Younts, Michelle McDermott, Maria Dicks, Conswella Harris, Christis Mims, Giselle Brown, Stacy Ingram, Cheryl Smiley, Cynthia Story, Debra Timmons.

The following students have earned masters degrees from Southern Wesleyan University: Joyce Donaldson, Sabrina Corley, Kevin Stogner, Carletta Johnson, Brenda Howard.

Robert J. Parker Jr. graduated Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a master of arts in Christian Education.

Gerry Seavo James graduated from Campbellsville University with a bachelor of science.

The Augusta Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution have announced the winners of the 2013-2014 American History Essay Contest. First place winners – Fifth Grade: William H. Mills IV (T. Harry Garrett Elementary School); Sixth Grade: Amelia T. Butler (Homeschool); Seventh Grade: Joshua Carpenter (A.R. Johnson Health Science and Engineering School); Eighth Grade: Taylor Nicole Lewis (Hillcrest Baptist School).

Second place winner – Fifth grade: Daniel A. Brown (Goshen Elementary School).

Air Force Airman Daniel R. Bardier has graduated from basic military training at Joing Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Shirley Bardier and stepson of Ron Kime of Augusta, and a 2010 graduate of the Academy of Richmond County.
