When Sara and Chris Clow were looking for a new home, they chose Maple’s Ferry subdivision in Evans because it had character and was small enough for them to get to know their neighbors. They moved in four years ago when Chris was stationed at Fort Gordon for the Air Force.

“It wasn’t going to be a huge neighborhood. In a neighborhood of like 900 houses, I think you lose that. We’ve been extremely fortunate to have incredible neighbors,” Sara said.

They also wanted a neighborhood that was close to the base, “but wasn’t 100 percent military.” Their neighbors are diverse, with pharmacists, nurses, retirees and police, she said.

The couple’s first home measures 2,400 square feet and has four bedrooms and 21/2 baths. The home has an open kitchen – a plus because they both like to cook – spacious rooms and lots of closet space.
