When Carolyn and Michael Newsome were searching for a new home, they wanted a house that had some sense of privacy.

The new 5,600 square foot home is only two weeks old for the family.

They found everything they were looking for at Crawford Creek subdivision in Evans. They moved into their home two weeks ago.

"I like that you don't see any of the homes when you pull in the front entrance," Michael said. "It looks like you're just going into some woods, but then it kind of opens up. I think that's a plus. It seems a little more secluded, even though you're kind of in the middle of everything. It just seems like it has a little more tranquility."

Carolyn's favorite feature of the home is the view of the backyard from her master bedroom.

"We like the way this house is built on the green space in the back. Even though it's still a neighborhood, you still have some privacy in the backyard," Carolyn said.

Michael said that he is looking forward to cooler weather so they can enjoy the deck, especially at night. There's also a fire pit in the backyard, which Carolyn plans to use to entertain guests on cooler days.

The Newsomes have been married for less than a year, after finding their way back to each other. They were best friends when they were younger but never dated, They went their separate ways and married other people. Over the years, they both divorced, and Carolyn found Michael on Facebook. A romance blossomed, and the couple married Feb. 19.

"He says he had a crush on me. I say that he didn't try hard enough, and he says that I didn't pay attention," Carolyn said.

Their 5,600-square-foot home was already under construction when they selected it. Carolyn likes its open floor plan, particularly how the kitchen opens into the living room and still has sufficient space between the two rooms.

"There's just something about this layout that's homey. The kitchen is what I fell in love with. I love to cook, so I have a lot of appliances. It's perfect for cooking," Carolyn said. "I think it's the perfect size, the cabinets shut themselves when you push them. It's a gas stove, and I've always heard that gas stoves cook better. This is my first time ever cooking on one, and I really love it."

The open floor plan also makes it possible to talk to guests while they're in the kitchen, Michael said.

Carolyn's second favorite room is the roomy master bedroom, and she also loves the home's spacious front entryway, she said.

They both love the details of the home, such as the arches in the entryways and on the doors, vaulted ceilings, recessed lighting and molding. There are windows throughout the home, so they don't have to turn on lights until the sun goes down, Michael said.

Michael's favorite feature of the home is the shower in the master bathroom.

"It's really spacious. It just seems open. I like the glass windows," he said.

They enjoy the amenities at Crawford Creek, such as the walking trails, and plan to bring their sons to the playground to make some friends in the neighborhood. They're looking forward to the recreation center that is scheduled to be built in 2012. It will have a pool and clubhouse.

The Newsomes also love to play pool, and they're planning to add a pool room to the basement.

They plan to stay in the home until they decide to downsize, Michael said.

They've heard their neighbors have cookouts, and they're looking forward to attending neighborhood gatherings.

"Everybody that we've seen walking around seems real pleasant. They'll stop and introduce themselves. It seems to be a real friendly neighborhood," Michael said.
