It's been quite a year for Liz and Brandon Paige.
In June 2009, the couple married on St. Simon's Island. Four months later, they began planning for the new home they would build in Grovetown's Chastain Place.
Liz also moved to the area from Atlanta and began a new job as a pre-kindergarten teacher at Augusta Preparatory Day School.
In February, they moved in.
"Trust me, if we can make it through this year, we can make it through anything," Liz said.
The openness of the floor plan drew the Paiges to the home they chose to build. The breakfast room, separated from the kitchen by a countertop, opens to the living room. The effect is a spacious, comfortable living area.
"A lot of (the other houses) have more square footage than ours does, but ours is open so it feels bigger," Liz said.
The Paiges spent a lot of time in the neighborhood before deciding to build there. They looked all over the metro area before settling on Grovetown, which they believe will boom in the near future.
"That's what really got us here, was the neighborhood, potential of Grovetown, the location," Brandon said.
Proximity to Interstate 20, only two miles away, also makes the neighborhood convenient to work for both of them.
"And the neighbors are really nice," Liz added.
