Mary Anne and Roy Thompson were high school sweethearts who reconnected and married five years ago.
When they first walked into what is now their home in Springlakes, they instantly fell in love with it. The open floor plan and the windows along the back of the house overlooking a swimming pool reminded them of their hometown in south Florida.
“We walked in here and he had a fit when he saw the swimming pool. I had a fit over the master bathroom, the Jacuzzi bathtub, the large closets in all the rooms, and the openness of it,” she said.
The home originally had a southwestern décor, but the couple wanted to create a beach feeling. Shades of watery blue and sunny yellow create a backdrop for seashell decor and white leather furniture.
Upstairs is a bonus room with a full bathroom and a walk-in closet that Mary Anne has converted into a sewing room.
Downstairs, there is a pool room with a mini kitchen and a full bathroom with shower.
“You really don’t have to come (upstairs). Just come through the back door, go swimming, take a shower, change your clothes and go home,” Mary Anne said of guests who use the heated pool. “It’s nice to go out there and go swimming when it’s 30 degrees. It’s just a little cold when you get out.”
