Mary Jean, a retired elementary school librarian, and Billy Pollard, a retired dentist at Medical College of Georgia, purchased the three-bedroom, two-bath home in December.

The couple, who have been married for 64 years, also purchased the home next door, so their son and daughter-in-law could help take care of them.

The neighborhood is on the outskirts of Grovetown, but it’s still close to Walmart and Doctors Hospital, Mary Jean said.

Their one-story, Aspen model home measures 1,600 square feet and is about 1,000 square feet smaller than their previous home.

“We like the openness of it,” Mary Jean said. “We have everything we need. We particularly like the screened-in porch.”

Mary Jean said that she also likes the spacious dining room area because her home is typically her family’s gathering place.

Her favorite room is the kitchen seating area, which has a painting of daffodils.
