For 11 years, whenever Melanie Kumrow drove down Lake Avenue, one home always caught her eye.

She jumped at the chance to buy it two months ago. She describes her home as full of character and unique.

There isn’t one particular thing that she loves best about the house.

“I love everything” she said of the good location, being close to work and the details of the house.

The personalized sunroom, with painted wisteria plants on windows that overlook a backyard that still has plantings from the prior owner, a master gardener, creates a serene place to sit and relax.

One thing Kumrow loves about her new home is that her treasured belongings are visible. In her last home, she said, things that meant a lot to her, such as her grandmother’s secretary, were in a seldom-seen room.

The owner’s suite is a retreat for Kumrow. With her grandmother and mother’s personal items surrounding her – such as her grandmother’s dresser and bed, a painting above the fireplace of her mother as a young girl, and her grandmother’s sitting couch – this is a place filled with love of family.
