Shade and Kelly Preston were looking for a place to put down roots for their family, and found it nearly five years ago in Jones Creek.

“Where we’re from you kind of plant your roots and you stay,” Kelly said. “I love this house. I think it just has so much to offer.”

The couple moved to Augusta from West Virginia while Shade did his residency, and they fell in love with the area, its people and the weather.

The home sits near the No. 7 tee. The paved cart path borders the front yard.

It’s a beautiful walk in the mornings, Kelly said.

Kelly, an interior designer, has been working hard to make the house their home.

“It’s so much harder to decorate your own house than it is to decorate somebody else’s. I lose sleep over, ‘Am I making the right decision?’” she said.

Professional, framed family portraits fill a wall in the family room. Kelly said she loves the way the photographer captured the love in her family and her children’s personalities.

As for her own decorative touches, she is most proud of the chandelier in the dining room. She had planned to replace the fixture, but chose to use the money instead to buy a china cabinet. So she improvised.

“I stood on my dining room table and hand painted that (chandelier) for six hours,” she said.

“So for $6 and six hours, I have a whole new chandelier,” she said.
