Don’t miss what is left of the fifth annual Jewish Film Festival held at the Jabez Hardin Performing Arts Center in the Columbia County Library – the final three films will be held June 9, June 14 and June 21. This series is put on by the Augusta Jewish Community Center, Adas Yeshurun Synagogue, Congregation Children of Israel and the Augusta Jewish Federation and is a great way to learn more about Jewish culture and art. Admission to each film is $10 and the event starts at 7:30 p.m. each night. For tickets or for more information, just call the Augusta Jewish Community Center at (706) 228-3636.
WHAT’S TRENDY: There’s a trend this summer that fits into most people’s work wardrobe: a classic loafer without socks and a slightly cropped pant. It’s better if the loafer is a little on the chunky side, and if the pants are a little on the flowy side. Although it may seem counterintuitive, this creates a flattering silhouette that slims your ankles and makes your legs seem longer. Look to ASOS for a great pair of silver loafers if you want something traditional but a little exciting, and if you’re very brave check out H&M’s all-white pair. My favorite is Everlane’s Street Shoes, a slim-cut leather slip-on that will transition into a lot of different style interpretations.
WHAT’S AFFORDABLE: If you’re in an industry where you network, check out the free app Remember. This app keeps track of everyone you meet throughout the week, with captions about where and when and what their significance is. If you geotag the meet, you can be reminded of who you met the next time you visit. The app helps set follow-up reminders and can store contact information. Find it in the iOS App Store.
