My absolute favorite event in Augusta living is Historic Augusta’s Cotton Ball. It sounds so fancy, and it truly is jaw-dropping gorgeous, but it’s really just a fun night with friends at a beautiful historic local home celebrating and raising money for Historic Augusta.
This year, it’s coming up on Thursday, May 19, and will be held at Twin Gables, the home of Augusta University President Brooks A. Keel and his wife, Tammie Schalue. This house is absolutely beautiful, and it’s a little bit of a departure from the Georgian or Colonial styles we see a lot around town, which is always fun to enjoy.
The Cotton Ball serves as a membership drive for Historic Augusta, and a kind of reunion for current members. Find more information at historicaugusta.org.
WHAT’S NEW: I love external batteries, mainly because I’m constantly fidgeting on my phone and run my battery down to nothing. The huge cases with extra battery, or the USB batteries, or the plug-in battery packs are great – but there’s a new option that is gorgeous and futuristic and convenient all at once.
GMYLE has created a charging “pad” that works through a charge cable and once the disc-shaped charge pad is fully charged, can boost your battery just by contact. If you have an iPhone, you have to add a receiver to your phone but that’s super easy.
Find the charging pad (it’s this cool marble look with gold) at gmyle.com.
WHAT’S AFFORDABLE: I love the GIF keyboard in Facebook Messenger, and now there’s an option for it right there in iMessage for my iPhone. GIPHY Keys is a new keyboard that works in sync with iMessage so you can add GIF animations to your text conversations. It slips into your keyboard just like the emoji keyboard or another language keyboard, and you add it like you add those kinds of keyboards.
It’s free to add to your phone, and you can get it within the App Store to then add it to your keyboards.
