The new year is a great time to look around closets and attic spaces and update some things you use … like your overnight bag. There are a few really great options out there right now, and they won’t break the bank.
Zella has a heather gray duffel bag reminiscent of something you’d see around an old boxing gym (in a good way), and they are calling it their “Boxing Bag” (it only costs $89).
If you want something that’s a little more sleek, but still around that price point, Everlane is selling a twill weekender that will fit enough for a short trip but won’t be an eyesore in your office or living room before you go (only $98). And if you really want to save money for the actual trip, check out Baggu’s canvas striped duffel. It’s currently on sale for $37, but even its regular price comes in at just $44.
WHAT’S NEW: Snapchat has rolled out its new look and updated interface in select countries, and not everyone is liking the upgrade. Users have found it challenging to navigate the now not-chronological feed, and are finding stories popping up in their home screen that they have not asked for.
It’s baffling to me that social media brands continue to make feeds nonsequential, when each time this is rolled out users are pretty unanimous in their disapproval. Snapchat should have perhaps learned from the outrage Instagram and Facebook received when they mixed up the timelines of their users in an attempt to sort based on popularity and not most recent.
WHAT’S AFFORDABLE: Aiken County Public Library is hosting a “Crime Scene Science” event that will educate and intrigue participants in the discipline of forensic science (think CSI). This is geared toward ages 7-11, and registration is limited to 30 people. It’s a free event, and could be a great way to either spark or encourage an interest in science and chemistry.
