Last week’s photo showed the hood, scoops and racing stripes on the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500, the epitome of performance in the shape of a Mustang. For a better photo and information, read this week’s road test.

The convertible starts at $59,650, which is Corvette territory. Power comes from a 32-valve, 5.8-liter supercharged aluminum V-8.
“Are you at all concerned about miles per gallon? You’ll get 15 city and 24 highway, and 93 octane is required. Ford claims that its 662 horsepower and 631 foot-pounds of torque make this the most powerful production V-8 engine on Earth. The only transmission available is a six-speed Tremec manual with a 3.31 final drive ratio. Front brakes are Brembo 14-inch vented rotors with six-piston calipers. Rear brakes are 11.8-inch vented rotors with a single-piston calipers.”
