Awards and honors: Valedictorian; Lois McGinty science scholarship; Junior marshal; President’s Outstanding Academic Excellence yearly since sixth grade; UGA Certificate of Merit and DAR U.S. history awards as a junior; Wofford Scholar; National Merit Commended Scholar; Presbyterian College Junior Fellow Scholar; National Honor Society.

Community activities: Served as junior staff member at High O’Brien leadership conference 2016; tutor for Warren County school second-graders; Warrenton First United Methodist Church usher and volunteer.

College/career: Will attend the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Of note: Will participated in the Aviation Challenge at NASA Space Center in Huntsville, Ala., in 2013-14.

From his essay: “Junior year was most influential for me because it was time for me to get serious about my future, and start acting. Plans became actions, and things got very real very quick.”

Nominator’s note: Will “sets his academic goals high and strives to achieve them with great effort and enthusiasm. … Biology, chemistry, physics and AP biology all being laboratory classes, often require a significant amount of work to be completed outside of class. Will never complains about the workload.
