FaceTime is by far the dominant mobile-to-mobile video call app, but Google wants to change that with its new Duo app.
Duo is available on both iOS and Android platforms, but it’s clear that the app was created to give a FaceTime-esque option to users outside the Apple family.
According to a pre-release review by Mashable, the app is both lean and very sturdy – they claim it works on any network down to 2G service. The user interface is almost nonexistent (in a good way), with no bells and whistles to confuse you or to accidentally hit mid-call.
WHAT’S TRENDY. If there was one trend that took Summer 2016 by storm, it was the off-the-shoulder style.
Looking forward to fall, that’s a trend that isn’t impossible to take to cooler months, but I think we’ll see a different iteration of the romantic, flowy vibe in bell-sleeve everything.
Whether it’s a gathered baby bell sleeve that begins at the wrist, or a full-on Renaissance look, I expect to see this everywhere (and you already can see it plenty of places!).
Zara has a shiny boatneck top that uses both glitter and an understated baby bell sleeve to carry this trend, as well as a beautiful cream-colored sweater that uses both bows and bell sleeves to create a very girly look.
The Augusta-Richmond County Library system is hopping onboard the Pokemon Go trend, hosting a Pokemon Go meetup on Friday, Aug. 26, at the downtown branch.
At the event, Pokemon Go fans will be able to watch old episodes of the original show, enjoy food and drink, and meet fellow fans of the game and show.
Additionally, Lure Modules will be in effect during the entire event. It starts at 3 p.m. and is free and open to all ages.
