Noisil is an app that creates ambient noise to help you focus or sleep when the world around you isn’t so considerate.
You can set a timer to lay out how long the sounds will run, and mix your own sounds to get the perfect cocktail for what you need. The ambient noise helps with stress, productivity, blocking annoying noises or just getting into the zone. There’s even a text editor within the app so you can write or brainstorm with no distractions.
If you’re like me, anything can seem interesting if it’s not what I’m supposed to be doing, and the in-app text function keeps you locked into what you need to get done. Find it for iPhones and Androids in the app stores, and for a short time the Android app is 50 percent off at $0.99.
WHAT’S TRENDY. One universally flattering summer trend everyone should try is a high-waisted pair of shorts, especially with a paper bag waist. The shape makes your legs seem longer, your waist seem smaller, and accentuates all the right places. This trend is hitting everywhere, from Target’s collab with WhoWhatWear to Vivienne Westwood. My favorite pair is a gingham pair from Topshop, with a belt to add a polished finish, and will only set you back $58. I also love Reformation’s Jazz Short which is a satin-finish in a flowy shape that would look great with a tank tucked in or with a flowy shirt over it.
WHAT’S AFFORDABLE. If you’re looking for something out of the ordinary to do this coming weekend, look no further than the Mudbugabeaux-n-Brew festival this coming Saturday, June 4, at the Augusta Common. Started several years ago by French Market Grille West (the one on Furys Ferry), the day begins at 3 p.m. and is full of crawfish, craft beer, live music, free T-shirts, activities for kids, and even a crawfish eating contest. You can get more information at frenchmarketwest.com, or by calling (706) 855-5511.
