WHAT: Hundreds of people will gather for a prayer rally in opposition to abortion Saturday, one day before the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade.

WHEN: 2 to 3:15 p.m. Saturday

WHERE: The intersection of Walton Way Extension, Scott Nixon Boulevard and Pleasant Home Road outside the west Augusta offices of Augusta Care Pregnancy Center.

ABOUT ROE V. WADE: The Supreme Court decision Jan. 22, 1973, established a constitutional right to abortion.

ABOUT THE RALLY: The gathering isn’t a protest, but a prayer rally, said Gary Garner, the leader of pro-life activities for the Alleluia Community, an ecumenical Christian community in south Augusta. It’s an opportunity to gather and sing praise and worship music and hear from speakers including Dan Almeter, who is also an elder of the Alleluia community, the Rev. Scott Winchel, the parochial vicar of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church and the Rev. Mike Freed, the pastor of Ascension Lutheran Church.
