An anonymous source within Google told the Wall Street Journal last week that Google will be releasing its answer to the transportation apps Uber and Lyft sometime soon.
The carpooling function would act within Waze, Google’s traffic and navigation app, and would be different from Uber and Lyft in that this app would work as a rideshare for patrons, while Uber and Lyft work as ride-hailing apps.
The Google app would pair riders in order to share the cost of a trip from one place to the next, using generally accepted mileage rates and sending no revenue to Google. The source said news should be more concrete this fall.
WHAT’S TRENDY: The Southern Soul & Song concert series kicks off Sept. 9 with Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives, a five-time Grammy Award-winning artist and his band who specialize in an old-fashioned country sound like that of Hank Williams and Johnny Cash (who Stuart toured with in his twenties).
The concert series continues through February and is a great way to enjoy nationally renowned names in one of Augusta’s greatest treasures, the Imperial Theatre.
You can get ticket information and details on the rest of the shows at www.SouthernSoulAndSong.com.
WHAT’S AFFORDABLE: Clogs will be the “it” shoe this fall, and although there are plenty of very investment-worthy pieces out there, if you’re unsure of the trend there is no need to spend too much. Zara has three versions of a slip-on mule/clog that are to die for, all coming in at under $120.
If you want to really save some cash, Old Navy has an adorable pair of t-strap clogs that are only $34 and come in two colors. Find them online and in stores this fall.
