Most of us will be making fitness goals for the coming year pretty soon, motivated by holiday food guilt and gym membership discounts.
You can’t be your best workout self without a good workout wardrobe, and I have a few brands you may not have heard of.
Kith is an athleisure line that is the brainchild of sneakerhead Ronnie Fieg, and he’s recently announced the addition of a women’s line to his brand.
The pieces in his lookbook are simple, well-built and just special enough that you won’t ever feel embarrassed to be caught in your workout gear. Go to KithNYC.com to see the entire preview.
Another brand that I love is Michi, whose leggings make your waist look small and have mesh insert panels to keep you cool in more ways than one. Michi is sold at Saks Fifth Avenue and at MichiNY.com.
WHAT’S TRENDY. Making just about everyone’s list of Top Apps of 2015, Slash is an app that you will want to download immediately if you haven’t already.
Slash is a search engine that is assimilated into your iPhone keyboard, allowing you to search Amazon, Fandango or a host of other sites and apps without having to leave whatever app you’re currently in. You just press the Slash button (that appears on your keyboard once you install Slash), and a little search field appears. You can select which of the 20-plus features you want to search within (including emojis!), and the result of your query pops up as a little balloon. Find it free in the App Store.
WHAT’S AFFORDABLE. If you’re looking for something to do that is both educational and affordable, check out the Lucy Craft Laney Museum’s Augusta Black Heritage Trolley Tour every Friday at 10 a.m., including New Year’s Day. Reservations are required by calling (706) 724-3576. The tour visits more than 25 sites that are significantly related to Augusta’s black history and also gives a comprehensive tour of the Laney-Walker area. Tickets are just $15 and you can find more information at LucyCraftLaneyMuseum.com.
