Shopgirl: Another fun time-wasting app

I’ve got a great new time-waster for you that doesn’t just involve moving candies around on a screen or unscrambling words.

It’s called BitStrips, an app that allows you to construct little one-panel comic strips starring you and your Facebook friends.

If this sounds like it would be difficult, or time-consuming, or requiring any unnatural talent in humor or art, set those fears aside.

The interface is ridiculously intuitive, and you build your own comic character by selecting different choices (so no freehand drawing skills necessary). Once you get your friends to join as well, you can build comic strips based off of prompts from the app or completely customize it yourself.

Isabel Marant, a relative newcomer to the mainstream fashion scene, will be releasing a collaborative collection with H&M on Nov. 14 and you should get excited. Marant has perfected what some people call the “boho jetsetter,” “finished but unpolished” or just plain “cool and French.”

Limited photos have come out with sneak peeks of the H&M line, and they’re unsurprisingly to die for. My favorite is a jacket whose shape reminds me of a Chanel suit, but whose textile is much more like a fabulous pillow found in a Senegal street market.

You’ll definitely want to make it to a store before it’s all gone – I’m guessing the online inventory will be snapped up in seconds.

Halloween is a fun night for sure, but can get complicated if you have small trick-or-treaters and don’t live in a neighborhood where you feel comfortable going door-to-door.

Never fear – The Augusta Chronicle’s online events calendar has a long list of options for you. There are plenty of local churches and organizations that are holding trunk-or-treat events or fall festivals that are free and open to the public. Find the complete list at
