The Juvenile Court of the Augusta Judicial Circuit is looking for volunteers to serve on the citizen’s panel for foster care review. The panels meet on a once-a-month schedule to review the progress or lack of progress being done to gain a permanent placement for children in foster care. The panels are for the Richmond County Juvenile Court and will meet there. There will be mandatory two-day training in February. An application and background check must be completed.

Red Nose Run
Ronald McDonald House Charities will benefit from the Red Nose Run 5K and Family Fun Run that will be held at James Brown Arena Saturday.
Packet pickup for the event will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Friday at the arena administration office, 601 7th St. Packets can also be picked up from 6:45-7:30 a.m. on race day.
The race begins at 8 a.m. in front of the arena, at 601 7th St. Participants will receive a T-shirt, a Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey red nose, running discount coupons. Food and drinks will also be available.
Registration is $25 today and Friday and $30 on race day. The Kids Fun Run is free with any adult registration and will begin at 8:45 a.m.

Wet Paint Party
The Greater Augusta Arts Council will present its annual Wet Paint Party and Sale at 7 p.m. Saturday.
More than 40 local artists will have original artwork for sale. Work will be auctioned during a silent auction. Artists will paint original pieces during the party that will be auctioned lived at the end of the evening.
A fashion and hair show by Vintage Ooollee and Modish Salon and Spa will also be presented.
The event is free for members of the Greater Augusta Arts Council. Non-members may join at the door.

A.R. Johnson Open House
A.R. Johnson Health Science and Engineering Magnet School will play host to a recruitment open house at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 17 at the school, 1234 Laney-Walker Blvd.
Students who are interested in attending for the 2012-2013 school year and their parents are invited to attend. The open house will include a tour and a question and answer session from 5:30-6 p.m. in the lecture hall, followed by showcase of student work throughout the school from 6-7:30 p.m.

Learn Floral Design
The Augusta Council of Garden Clubs will present an Introduction to Floral Design during four Saturday sessions at Georgia State Floral Distributors on Washington Road.
The classes will include instruction and creation of a design by the instructors. The final class is a mini flower show. Participants will be able to browse and buy from Georgia State Foral Distributors, a wholesale distributor. Classes are held from 8-11:30 a.m. Jan. 19, Feb. 2, Feb. 16 and March 2. Refreshments will be provided.
Cost is $20 per session and includes the required textbook, Unit II Floral Design for the Beginniner.
Register at least two weeks prior to class to allow organizers to order and receive the textbook.
