Banana Republic rolled out a new vibe earlier this year, a much more sleek and modernized vibe, and I’ve been super impressed so far.
Without sacrificing the classic lines or reliable quality I’m accustomed to from BR, the company is managing to harness trends much earlier and even experiment a little bit.
For this summer, I’m absolutely loving the multi-stripe maxi skirt they have in wide, bold stripes of pinks and purples and orange. It has a very beautiful flow to it, and the colors look like something out of the sorbet aisle. The shoes, suit separates and accessories also have so many different offerings, with styles that are similar to those of much more expensive labels but never ripping them off. Check it out in our Banana Republic store or online atbananarepublic.gap.com.
WHAT’S TRENDY: TheSkimm, a blog that has fans as big-time as Oprah herself, has released an app that is a calendar genius. Skimm ahead processes categories like movies and television, politics, books, current events and brand releases and grabs important dates to slip into your calendar. So whether it’s the premiere of the new season of Game of Thrones, the Democratic National Convention or the most recent work by J.K. Rowling, it won’t pass you by. Find the app for iOS in the App Store.
WHAT’S AFFORDABLE: Historic Augusta’s Downtown Loft Tour is this upcoming weekend, and it’s an event that brings to light some of the seldom-traversed nooks within downtown living. For this event, the generous owners of a variety of downtown lofts invite Augusta to see their unique homes. The tour is different every year, and proceeds go to support Historic Augusta events and programs. Tour times are 6-9 p.m. Friday, May 6, and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, May 7. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 on tour days from historicaugusta.org or by calling (706) 724-0436.
