With three growing children, Brent and Mary Spivey found their 1,300-square-foot home more cramped than cozy, but their plans didn’t include moving.
“We were about to build on,” Brent said. “We’d already drawn up plans.”
One Sunday afternoon, however, they decided to look at a few houses in a new North Augusta subdivision; by Monday afternoon, they were signing some papers for a home in Wando Woodlands.
The new neighborhood had several floor plans from which to choose, but there was one that immediately drew the couple.
Some of the details she liked were the downstairs arches and the coffered ceiling in the dining room. They both liked that the master bedroom was downstairs and the other bedrooms were upstairs.
Mary said one definite deal-sealer was the walk-in closet in the master bathroom. Outfitting it with a closet organizer was among the first purchases.
The family has lived in the house for less than a year, and there are still decorating touches yet to be finished.
Seven year-old Taylor has a pink bedroom with a mural painted by her mother, but Connor and Cowen’s room is still a work in progress.
The two boys share a room that has plenty of space to play. It’s going to have a vintage car theme. So far, the racing stripes are on the walls, but Mary plans to do more with the space.
