Driving through the area and walking into the home of Jarrett and Sara Smith, one gets a feeling of comfort and community, which is one of the things Sara loves about the Hammond’s Ferry subdivision in North Augusta.
From her kitchen window, she loves to watch the children come by in the evenings to see the chickens, and she can see people work in the community garden.
The kitchen is the heart of the home. “Everything in there is something I love. I feel like it is me.” she said. From the granite countertops to the farm sink, she and her husband have designed this home for a family to enjoy.
The Smiths built their home in 2009, with Jarrett adding all of the woodwork himself.
“The laundry chute is one of my favorite additions” she said. “I love it so much that I want to have one in our next home.”
The double porches are relaxing and serene, with the Charleston atmosphere creating a wonderful backdrop. Having the restaurants, Brick Pond Park, and Greeneway within walking distance is a plus for the family, she said.
