Facebook has a new and improved take on the notifications tab, and this might actually improve the quality of your life. Instead of just alerting you to when someone likes or comments, Facebook now lets you know when your friends have had a life event (engaged, etc.) that you might want to be aware of. That sure beats scrolling down for ages and hoping that you notice any major events that your other friends are commenting about – maybe we’re getting to the point where social media really is making us better friends. The notification tab can also let you know about your favorite teams’ score updates, weather reports for your main locations and other similar facts. You can get this by updating Facebook on your smartphone or other devices.
WHAT’S TRENDY: The annual Oysters on Telfair benefit is on Nov. 5, with proceeds going to the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art here in Augusta. The event is one of the best recurring fundraisers in Augusta, with live music, drinks, and of course, oysters. This year music is provided by the Crosstie Walkers. The event will be held at the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art, housed in Ware’s Folly at the corner of Telfair and Fifth streets. This is a great way to support one of Augusta’s best organizations, and one that provides art lessons and exposure to artists of all experience levels. You can buy tickets and learn more at GHIA.org.
WHAT’S AFFORDABLE: I find myself wearing more lip color as the weather drops and I begin to wear more layers (not sure if there’s a connection). One of my main go-to’s is Clinique’s Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm.
I love every single one of the seven colors, but the one I reach for the most is Roomiest Rose. This Chubby Stick does equally as good a job moisturizing as it does giving your lips a punch of color, which is hard to do with more intense lipsticks.
I know my lips get super dry as the heaters turn on, and it’s nice to have a one-stop lip product that covers all of my bases.
