Shopgirl: App uses text-to-video to condense news

Wibbitz is the coolest new way to get your news info.

This app gathers news articles from all over and uses text-to-video technology to condense it into short videos that give you the important points. It’s formatted so that you can get the information just by listening, but also has video clips and graphics in case you’re where you can watch.

The app is very touch-screen oriented and is worth a test drive if you seem to never have time to keep up with the news. Right now it seems like most of the pieces are about stocks, entertainment and really “no duh” global news (like the typhoon in the Philippines), but I’m hoping it becomes even more balanced as the fanbase grows.

L’Wren Scott, known for her fantastic fashion designs (and for being Mick Jagger’s girlfriend), is the next featured designer collaborating with Banana Republic.

Her collection will be released in early December, and you can get excited. Only a few images have been released, but each piece has the classic lines we’ve come to associate with BR – but with just a dash of Scott’s signature rockstar edge. There’s a little more sparkle, a little more pattern and jewel tones that pop.

The collection will sell at typical BR price points, ranging from $39-$198.

Don’t miss the Junior League Holiday Market this year – Nov. 22-24 at the Legends Club on Washington Road. I went last year, and it was just a fantastic way to ring in the holiday season.

The venue is perfect, the vendors were all so interesting, and the food and drinks were to die for! It’s a great place to pick up holiday decor and gifts for hard-to-buy-for people on your list. You’ll probably also run into a ton of people you know, and any Junior League function helps them help the community.

Tickets are only $7 and let you in all three days. More info is at
