God says that those who bless Israel will be blessed, and those who curse Israel will be cursed. Letter writer Cassandra Harris ("Minister is straight out of 'dark ages,'" June 16) needs to know that, by virtue of voting for President Obama, we have invited curses, and, yes, storms and the lot.
God uses events that cause suffering not to show he hates us but to break us if we yield. This is far too much for others to comprehend. When broken, He builds a gem of our lives. He is "no respecter of persons"; the rain falls on the just and unjust. God does not prevent evil in all cases. He does protect, too, as a parent does, but man is given a free will, which the Rev. Timothy Fellows ("Expect 'acts of God' on sinful world," June 9) does not believe.
You are hurt by those who exercise their evil thoughts. You can choose whom you serve. For God to always prevent evil is to keep you from graduating through life with a passing grade and lessons learned.
As for Ms. Harris saying it isn't a "blind man's fault that he was born blind," eating habits of the mother, genetics and health play roles, too.
Know God for yourself, and do not judge the one who created all for you to inherit one day on Earth and in Heaven. That is loving!
