Recently, the U.S. House of Representatives passed House Resolution 5566, the Prevention of Interstate Commerce in Animal Crush Videos Act, with a vote of 416-3. The bill gives law enforcement tools to crack down on animal "crush" videos, which depict the intentional crushing, burning, drowning, suffocating and impaling of puppies and kittens for the satisfaction of perverted viewers.
It is heartwarming to know that the House rallied together to pass this legislation, Democrats and Republicans alike, with just three "no" votes. What sort of politician would or could vote "no" on an issue like this?
Augustans know one of them very well. It was Rep. Paul Broun of Athens! Can you believe it? He's a medical doctor, and even shares a hometown with the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine.
I urge all voters, pet owners and animal lovers to get online and research H.R. 5566 for more information. Confirm for yourself which three politicians voted "no."
