Socialism slowly trapping our country

Just as sure as the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, you can count on a politician to attempt to buy his or her way back into office with other people's money. This is standard operating procedure. The difference between a politician and a statesman is that a politician cares only about being re-elected, whereas a statesman cares about the next generation.

It would do little or no good to explain that the free market can provide better services and be more cost-efficient than all these socialist programs such as government housing, health care, transportation, recreation parks, EMS and so on.

It is because government tried to be everything to everyone that our nation is bankrupt. We owe $12.4 trillion. That's $111,000 per taxpayer. Does any reasonable person think this debt will ever be paid off? Of course not. You want to see what our children's future will look like?

Look no further than Greece. They have spent themselves into economic collapse.

Socialism does not work because it is contrary to human nature. People want to keep the fruits of their labor. When the incentive to produce is destroyed, the whole system comes tumbling down.

If our nation is to be saved, it must start with the educating of the electorate on the local level. An old French proverb says, "Free cheese can only be found on a mouse trap." Fellow mice, we have been trapped.
