Microchipping pets is invaluable

I cannot stress the importance of microchipping your pets.

I lost a dog two years ago. She was an intelligent and beautiful white German shepherd. After six months of searching, I considered her as good as gone. On Aug. 25, I got a call from the CSRA Humane Society, from a very sweet woman named Elise. She said someone dropped off a dog and, after scanning for a chip, workers found my name. A woman named Julie from The Ark Animal Hospital in Aiken helped track me down by using the chip's data. I picked up my long-lost pet Aug. 26.

I have come to the conclusion that if she weren't chipped a long time ago, I never would have found her. Terra and I are happy that there are ways to prevent lost pets, and that there are wonderful people out there who cared so much when she was found.

I would like to remind people the importance of microchipping your beloved pets -- you never know if someone will call you and let you know your pet has been located. It's an inexpensive procedure and well worth it.
