War opponent is woefully ill-informed

In reply to John Randolph H. Cain's letter ("We have no choice but to leave Iraq." April 23) I assert we do have choices, but leaving Iraq is not in the best interest of the United States.

Mr. Cain, a rural prognosticator of the future in the Middle East, states that there is no military solution to the conflict in Iraq and Afghanistan. It's possible that his assertion could be true, but to blame the course of action on a "handpicked military commander" is proof that he does not understand the military, or the government of the United States' military matters.

Mr. Cain is big on the perceived failures of the United States and the military. Perhaps it's because he has never tried to help with its apparent success!
