A Grovetown thoroughfare is shut down while crews repair a water main break.

Harlem-Grovetown Road is closed to traffic between Adams Lane and Robinson Avenue, Grovetown Public Works Director Michael Woods said. Traffic is being diverted to Adams Lane.

A water main broke about 5:30 a.m. on Harlem-Grovetown Road near Adams Lane, Woods said.

The break left residents living around the area and in nearby subdivisions, including Northlake, Main Street and Senators Ridge, without water. The nearby schools have water service, Woods said.

Crews are working to repair the break and are expected to have it complete and water restored to residents this afternoon, Woods said.

The road will reopen when the repair is complete.

When I got up this a.m. I had no water to make coffee and had to melt ice cubes to make a few cups. Had to have my java!

It wasn't long though before water was restored. The detour was not that big a deal as it was an easy round about way.

I felt sorry for the police having to hang out in this heat.
