BEIRUT  — An Internet video purports to show the beheading of U.S. journalist Steven Sotloff by the Islamic State group.

This still image from an undated video released by Islamic State militants on Tuesday, purports to show journalist Steven Sotloff being held by the militant group. Islamic State militants called American journalist James Foley’s gruesome videotaped beheading revenge for U.S. airstrikes against the group, and they still hold at least three other Americans hostage, including Sotloff.

Sotloff, who freelanced for Time and Foreign Policy magazines, had last been seen in Syria in August 2013 until he appeared in a video released online last month by the Islamic State group that showed the beheading of fellow American journalist James Foley.

Dressed in an orange jumpsuit against the backdrop of an arid Syrian landscape, Sotloff was threatened in that video with death unless the U.S. stopped airstrikes on the group in Iraq.

In the video distributed Tuesday and entitled “A Second Message to America,” Sotloff appears in a similar jumpsuit before he is beheaded by an Islamic State fighter.

God bless Mr. Sotloft's soul

God bless Mr. Sotloft's soul and those prisoners who remain in the hands of these terrorists.

Americans MUST realize they cannot travel to these countries, no matter what noble intentions they may have.

These journalists were there before things came to such a head, but why was no effort made to free them?

Every American who travels there in spite of the warnings should never expect to be ransomed and only rescued if advantageous to our mission. It is selfish, dangerous and downright idiotic for them to expect the expense and probably the cost of other American lives to get them out of harm's way.

ISIS/ISIL/Islamic State members...

...need a good killing.
The sooner the better.
C'mon, Obama, come up with a strategy to take these evildoers out!
