Crawley will serve as county manager.

Crawley has been working as Springfield’s public works director since he left his position with the county.

He was forced out of his Effingham County job in May of 2013 by three commissioners amid controversy over the county audit.

The chairman and two other commissioners all said there were no major audit issues and no significant problems with county operations.

The new job begins immediately, Crawley said.

Crawley said he will be doing some traveling back and forth, helping Springfield finish some projects he was involved with.

It seems to be so easy for some jurisdictions, and so clumsy, embarrassing and painful for others. What is wrong with Richmond County when it comes to recognizing what they need and hiring someone who can do it?

Yeah, leave it to mcduffie to run in and hire someone without researching his background... Anytime you google someone's name and news articles return with the word "audit" in them kinda makes you wonder...
